Everything settling down after her parents wedding, the final battle and the united realms, was merely just a phase. The few years of peace the town endured gradually came to an end. Several drastic events took place after all the realms joined as one, which destroyed the Storybrooke that everyone knows and loves.
⠀
⠀
With the entirety of her life being thoroughly destroyed and overrun by evil, Hope Swan-Jones, the sixteen year old daughter of Emma Swan and Killian Jones, refused to live life the way it currently was, and was adamant on going back in time to prevent evil from consuming the town, as well as making sure events that have a devastating impact on her future never happen . . So, she did just that.
⠀
⠀
Due to a malfunction with the spell that she used, she travelled back in time further than she had anticipated, not only that, but also accidentally freezing her age, trapping herself until she’s born and of age in the present day world.
⠀
⠀
Arriving in Storybrooke was difficult since nobody was knowledgeable to her identity, and it was unlikely that they would believe her straight away too. From observations she’d made from her own research ( spying ), it was clear her parents were barely together at the time she had travelled back to, so popping up and announcing that she’s their daughter would result in a handful of questions. If she was going to succeed and make it so the residents of Storybrooke believed her story, it was crucial that she went about it in a smart manner . She needed to seek out someone who she could trust that could help her, that wasn’t her parents.
⠀
⠀
Approaching Regina first seemed like the best option. They were close whilst she was growing up, and they were practically family. Hope was doubtful that she would believe her straight away, in fact she was almost positive that she wouldn’t, but it was her best chance. Going to her parents wasn’t an option, she saw it as too much of a risk to potentially changing the story.
⠀
⠀
Once realising she messed up the spell significantly, Hope attempted to reverse it and go back to the present day so she could do it over. Numerous attempts and every time achieving nothing, led her to believe she was trapped there . . and, she was correct. With help from Regina and her daughter, Reagan, they were able to conjure up a vision using one of their magic mirrors, hopeful that they were able to detect why she was unable to return, and possibly send some sort of message to her family, but all they were able to uncover was that everything was destroyed and there was nothing for her to go back to. The Storybrooke she had just left behind was non-existent. It was too late.
⠀
⠀
It took awhile for her to accept that she was stuck there, but it wasn’t exactly like she had anything to go back to even if she was able to. It was inevitable that her secret would come out and everyone would finally find out who she really was, so with help from Regina, they announced it to the family, after suspicions from the times she’d almost slipped up. Everyone coming to terms with it didn’t take as long as she had originally anticipated, her guess was because it wasn’t the strangest thing that had happened in Storybrooke. Her parents were the ones who had the most difficulty processing the information, understandably so. When she announced her identity, they were only just a couple, let alone having a teenage daughter. With time, as well as everyone getting to know her, they grew extremely close, and she developed incredible relationships with both of her parents. It was like she had been there her whole life. They were a family.
⠀
⠀
As time went on, many more memories were made, and numerous battles were fought. She actually got to be a part of them ( much to her parents dismay ), instead of just having the memories of them from her brother's storybook that was read to her as a child. The one downside to all of that was that Hope’s memories from the future gradually faded as events were changed. Her contributions to the present day Storybrooke, and Storybrooke as time progressed, were impacting future events, meaning they wouldn’t happen the way she originally remembered, clearing her memory of them whenever a path was altered.
⠀
⠀
Her only 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 now was to succeed in what she came here to do, so that her and the rest of her family had a pleasant future, where good will win.

⠀
Hope only aimed to travel back five or so years, but the malfunction in the spell took her back to the time towards the end of season three.
⠀
⠀
The spell also froze her age until the timelines collide, she’s 16 throughout the entire show and right up to after her birth, until the other version of herself reaches 16. Once that happens, she’ll resume ageing. The two have the option to merge into one, but they don’t since they’re entirely different people based on their life experiences.

𝐩̲𝐮̲𝐦̲𝐩̲𝐤̲𝐢̲𝐧̲𝐬̲: every halloween growing up, hope would go to the pumpkin patch in storybrooke with her parents to pick out a bunch of pumpkins to decorate the house with. they’d later take them round to her grandparents house and they’d all carve them with the rest of the family. this tradition started to fade as she grew older for obvious reasons, but it’s one of her favourite childhood memories.
⠀
⠀
𝐭̲𝐫̲𝐢̲𝐜̲𝐤̲ ̲𝐨̲𝐫̲ ̲𝐭̲𝐫̲𝐞̲𝐚̲𝐭̲𝐢̲𝐧̲𝐠̲: when she was younger, she’d go trick or treating every year with her family without fail. once hope became a teenager, she started going with her friends instead. now? she considers herself too old to participate, so she either remains home to hand out candy, or will accompany her younger sisters.
⠀
⠀
𝐛̲𝐚̲𝐤̲𝐢̲𝐧̲𝐠̲: it’s not unknown that baking isn’t exactly hope’s forte, but she attempts it every year regardless. pumpkin pie is one of her favourite seasonal treats, so she makes her own one with any pumpkins that they don’t use. since she’s mastered the recipe, the treat is surprisingly edible. baking cookies and other halloween treats is something else she ensures she makes time to do with her siblings as quality time with them is significant to her.
⠀
⠀
𝐦̲𝐨̲𝐯̲𝐢̲𝐞̲𝐬̲: watching spooky movies with her siblings is one of hope’s favourite things to do throughout the month of october. getting in the halloween was a top priority for her throughout the month of october, therefore she’d insist on them watching halloween movies a few times a week. it was the perfect excuse for quality family time.
⠀
⠀
𝐜̲𝐚̲𝐧̲𝐝̲𝐲̲: to hope, halloween wouldn’t be halloween without candy, especially when she was younger. even though she doesn’t trick or treat now, she still makes her mom go to the store to buy her candy so that she doesn’t miss out, that and she’ll also steal some from her sisters as well as eating the leftovers that don’t end up being given out.
⠀
⠀
𝐜̲𝐨̲𝐬̲𝐭̲𝐮̲𝐦̲𝐞̲𝐬̲: every single year hope makes sure she has a new costume. her choice has varied throughout the years, but when she was three she dressed up as a pirate, wanting to be just like her father. she insisted on an elsa costume when she was five since she had learned that her mother was friends with her, therefore she wanted to impress her. at the age of seven she was adamant on going as a mini version of her mother. she convinced her to purchase a red leather jacket that matched hers, as well as a beanie and a plastic sword, since she wasn’t allowed to take the real one she insisted on. other costumes hope had worn ranged from witches, vampires, zombie school girls, devils and angels, and characters from her favourite movies.
⠀
⠀
𝐩̲𝐚̲𝐫̲𝐭̲𝐢̲𝐞̲𝐬̲: halloween parties are one of her favourite aspects of the season. when she was younger, she’d practically beg her parents to host a party at their house. since it was only a kiddie party they didn’t mind at all, in fact the whole family would attend and they’d make a whole day out of it. of course that changed as she grew older as they weren’t so keen on hosting a party for a bunch of teens. hope couldn't exactly blame them as it did usually lead to chaos.
⠀
⠀
𝐝̲𝐞̲𝐜̲𝐨̲𝐫̲𝐚̲𝐭̲𝐢̲𝐨̲𝐧̲𝐬̲: the middle of october is usually when hope puts up the halloween decorations. she was always full of such enthusiasm when she was younger, but now she just tends to help her siblings. of course the enthusiasm is partially there, but it’s faded as she’s matured.
